THE TRADITIONAL WAY OF PRESENTING DATA
The following graph, created straight out of MS Excel, is certainly not incorrect. However, it requires the reader to work hard to draw conclusions and get any insights the data might present.
THE WAY OF THE INFLUENCER
As an influencer, the purpose of any graph I present is to provide visually supportive evidence of the conclusions or insights I'm talking to the audience about. The following example shows an insight directly to the audience without them having to work to get it.
Data alone doesn't drive change—insight does.
As leaders and change agents, we often fall into the trap of believing that if we simply show people the numbers, they'll see what we see and act accordingly. But experience tells a different story. Whether it's public health, climate change, or a strategic business shift, countless efforts have failed—not because the data was wrong, but because the insight wasn't obvious.
People don't respond to spreadsheets; they respond to meaning. The data must be translated into a clear, compelling narrative that connects to their values, concerns, and goals. Without that bridge between evidence and relevance, even the most robust data will fall flat. Your job isn't just to present the numbers—it's to make the truth within them impossible to ignore.
This training shows you how to present data in such a way your audience sees the insight immediately without having to work for it.
